About

My practice remains a passion, a privilege, and has been my sole career. My experience extends 25 years, and I’ve been fortunate to work in varied facets of the profession before opening my private practice in 2008.

Trained in Clinical Psychology through the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Loyola University in New Orleans, I have a Master of Science Degree. Through work with adults and adolescents on the inpatient units of DePaul-Tulane, and work with Addiction Recovery Resources of New Orleans, I became credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)–which is now called Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina–as well as becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I went on as a Program Coordinator before transitioning to work exclusively in private practice. In recent years, I’ve been newly excited to expand my training as a Certified Hypnotherapist (CHt).

Growing up in crisp Texas and lush Louisiana, I relocated to the beauty of North Carolina in 2006. Our mountains bring their own form of healing and, within them, I offer psychotherapy for adult individuals. It’s inspiring to be part of the natural and community resources here, as true healing comes not merely from “fixing” singular problems but in creating an overall healthy lifestyle that becomes its own source of therapy.

We work together as partners in your therapy process. I’m not a passive, listen-only therapist, but will engage with you actively so that your sessions feel focused and help you leave with a sense of direction in your short and long-term life. My primary goal is for you to feel safe, respected, and treated with dignity regardless of your reason for seeking help. I’m grateful to work with individuals across all genders, races, cultures, and personal philosophies.

What is the Art of Truth?

I see you as an artist actively creating and, thus, capable of recreating your life experience. Perception is reality, and we are powerful in the choice we have over our perceptions and reactions. At one time or another, we have all allowed negative expectations, memories, or assumptions to influence us in ways that make our fear come true…a self-fulfilling prophecy. Just as we create negativity this way, we’re able to focus our attention toward becoming the person we want to be. It’s not magic, but awareness. And the truth is not merely a set of facts, but the application of choice in perception. I’ve named my practice the Art of Truth after this primary concept and as a way of calling forth the mental Michelangelo in you.
